AG-DC hydrophobic Silica Aerogel Powder is a super-insulating, ultra-lightweight nanoporous material characterized by its exceptional thermal resistance and high hydrophobicity. With a porosity of over 90% and a complex 3D network of silica nanoparticles, it serves as the most effective functional filler for the next generation of high-performance coatings, composites, and energy-saving materials. The production standard particle size of this product is 7um, 10um,15um and 50um. Other particle sizes can be customized according to requirements.
Traditional thermal insulation materials such as mineral wool, fiberglass, perlite, polyurethane foam, and calcium silicate have long been used across construction, industrial insulation, and energy systems. However, as global energy efficiency standards become stricter and equipment operates under more extreme temperature conditions, these conventional materials are increasingly facing critical limitations:
Excessively high thermal conductivity that fails to meet modern energy-saving requirements
Excessive thickness requirement to achieve target insulation performance
Moisture absorption and irreversible performance degradation over service life
Poor fire resistance in polymer-based formulations, raising safety risks
Inability to adapt to space constraints in retrofitting projects and compact system designs
Weak durability under high-temperature or cyclic thermal environments
As a leading China aerogel manufacturer with 1100 tons of annual silica aerogel powder production capacity, we see a clear industry shift:
in building envelopes, LNG storage, battery thermal protection, industrial pipelines and more, the market demand is moving toward high-performance, ultra-thin, lightweight, and long-lasting insulation solutions. This is where our hydrophobic silica aerogel powder delivers a game-changing technological advancement.
Hydrophobic silica aerogel powder is a nanoporous solid insulation material, derived from high-purity silica gel through a controlled supercritical drying process. With an ultra-high porosity of 90–99% and a stable three-dimensional nano-network structure, it is widely recognized as one of the lowest thermal conductivity solid materials available for industrial mass production today.
Its unique nano-scale pore structure effectively suppresses all three forms of heat transfer:
Solid heat conduction through the nano-silica skeleton
Gas convection within pores smaller than the mean free path of air molecules
Infrared radiation heat transfer at high temperatures

Nanoporous structure of our industrial hydrophobic silica aerogel powder
This innovative structure gives our silica aerogel powder exceptional thermal insulation performance that far surpasses conventional insulation materials, while our mass production capacity ensures stable batch-to-batch consistency for global bulk orders.
Industry-leading thermal conductivity of 0.012–0.016 W/(m·K) @ 25°C, up to 3-5 times more efficient than traditional insulation materials, delivering superior thermal performance with minimal thickness.
As an inorganic silica-based material, our aerogel powder is inherently non-combustible, helping composite systems achieve top fire safety ratings including UL 94 V-0 and EN 13501-1. It maintains stable performance under long-term high-temperature operating conditions, solving the durability issue of conventional materials in cyclic thermal environments.
With a proprietary surface hydrophobic treatment, our aerogel powder achieves ≥99% water repellency, completely preventing moisture absorption and performance degradation over its service life, even in high-humidity industrial and outdoor environments.
With an extremely low bulk density, our aerogel powder significantly reduces structural load while maintaining excellent insulation efficiency. Its ultra-thin application profile perfectly solves the space constraint challenges in retrofitting projects and compact system designs that traditional thick insulation materials cannot address.
While monolithic aerogel has inherent brittleness, our aerogel powder is engineered for seamless integration into a wide range of material systems. It acts as a high-performance functional insulating filler, allowing manufacturers to upgrade their existing products without fundamentally changing their base structure or processing methods.

Aerogel powder is widely used in thermal insulation coatings, energy-saving building materials, industrial insulation composites, and functional fillers. It helps reduce heat transfer while improving lightweight performance and thermal efficiency.
Aerogel powder is available in different particle size ranges to suit various applications, such as coatings, mortars, and composites. Our regular particle size is 7um, 10um, 15um, and 50um. The particle size can be customized according to customer requirements.
Aerogel powder is generally considered safe for industrial use when handled according to material safety guidelines. Standard protective measures such as masks and ventilation are recommended during handling.
Aerogel powder is recommended when uniform dispersion and smooth surface finish are required, such as in insulation coatings or composite formulations. It integrates more easily into binders and provides consistent thermal performance in thin layers.
