AG-DC hydrophobic Silica Aerogel Powder is a super-insulating, ultra-lightweight nanoporous material characterized by its exceptional thermal resistance and high hydrophobicity. With a porosity of over 90% and a complex 3D network of silica nanoparticles, it serves as the most effective functional filler for the next generation of high-performance coatings, composites, and energy-saving materials. The production standard particle size of this product is 7um electronic-grade aerogel powder; 10um textile-grade aerogel powder;15um and 50um aerogel powders commonly used in coatings and composite materials. Other particle sizes can be customized according to requirements.
Traditional insulation materials such as mineral wool, fiberglass, polyurethane foam, and calcium silicate are widely used in construction and industrial thermal management. However, many conventional materials face limitations in thermal efficiency, moisture resistance, fire safety, durability, and space-saving applications under increasingly demanding energy and operating conditions.
As energy efficiency standards continue to rise across building envelopes, battery thermal protection, and industrial insulation systems, the market is shifting toward thinner, lighter, and higher-performance insulation solutions. Our hydrophobic silica aerogel powder is designed to meet these next-generation thermal management requirements.
Hydrophobic silica aerogel powder is a nanoporous solid insulation material, derived from high-purity silica gel through a controlled supercritical drying process. With an ultra-high porosity of 90–99% and a stable three-dimensional nano-network structure, it is widely recognized as one of the lowest thermal conductivity solid materials available for industrial mass production today.
Its unique nano-scale pore structure effectively suppresses all three forms of heat transfer:
Solid heat conduction through the nano-silica skeleton
Gas convection within pores smaller than the mean free path of air molecules
Infrared radiation heat transfer at high temperatures

Nanoporous structure of our industrial hydrophobic silica aerogel powder
This innovative structure gives aerogel exceptional thermal insulation performance that far surpasses conventional insulation material.
Industry-leading thermal conductivity of 0.012–0.016 W/(m·K) @ 25°C, up to 3-5 times more efficient than traditional insulation materials, delivering superior thermal performance with minimal thickness.
This inorganic silica-based material is inherently non-combustible, helping composite systems achieve top fire safety ratings including UL 94 V-0 and EN 13501-1. It maintains stable performance under long-term high-temperature operating conditions, solving the durability issue of conventional materials in cyclic thermal environments.
With a proprietary surface hydrophobic treatment, the product achieves ≥99% water repellency, completely preventing moisture absorption and performance degradation over its service life, even in high-humidity industrial and outdoor environments.
Marginally heavier than air, the material delivers exceptional thermal insulation performance at an ultra-low density, drastically reducing structural load compared to traditional insulation materials. Its
ultra-thin profile further eliminates the space constraints that bulky conventional solutions cannot address in retrofits and compact system designs.
While monolithic aerogel has inherent brittleness, our aerogel powder is engineered for seamless integration into a wide range of material systems. It acts as a high-performance functional insulating filler, allowing manufacturers to upgrade their existing products without fundamentally changing their base structure or processing methods.

AG-DC7 electronic-grade aerogel powder is mainly applied in solid-state battery electrolytes to effectively reduce crystallization issues. AG-DC10 textile-grade aerogel powder is primarily used for producing aerogel polyester masterbatches.AG-15 and AG-50 are widely adopted in aerogel thermal insulation aerogel coatings and composite processing with various other base materials.
Aerogel powder is available in different particle size ranges to suit various applications, such as coatings, mortars, and composites. Our regular particle size is 7um, 10um, 15um, and 50um. The particle size can be customized according to customer requirements.
Aerogel powder is generally considered safe for industrial use when handled according to material safety guidelines. Standard protective measures such as masks and ventilation are recommended during handling.
Aerogel powder is recommended when uniform dispersion and smooth surface finish are required, such as in insulation coatings or composite formulations. It integrates more easily into binders and provides consistent thermal performance in thin layers.
Modified silica aerogel features hydrophobic and lipophilic properties. When added into oil-based coating systems, its internal nano-pores will easily get blocked, which will greatly weaken its original high-efficiency thermal insulation performance. We adopt exclusive customized dispersion formulas and professional dispersion technology, which successfully solves the compatibility difficulty and realizes stable production of high-performance pure water-based aerogel thermal insulation coatings.Besides, we also provide flexible cooperation modes for coating manufacturers. We can fully support you to produce qualified aerogel coatings locally in your market.
