In August 2020, a grain depot in Taiyuan, North China, completed renovation of a 4,320㎡ single-story warehouse using AG-C aerogel insulating coating system, targeting upgraded thermal insulation to stabilize interior temperatures and protect grain quality across seasonal temperature extremes.Large-scale grain storage warehouses in northern China face significant thermal management challenges during summer months when exterior temperatures drive heat ingress through roof and wall structures, raising interior temperatures and accelerating grain quality degradation. Inadequate insulation increases cooling energy consumption, shortens safe grain storage cycles, and elevates grain loss risks from temperature-induced spoilage. The scale of the facility at 4,320㎡ required a solution that could be applied efficiently across large surface areas without extended facility downtime.AG-C aerogel insulating coating was applied across the warehouse envelope, forming a continuous thermal barrier that reduces heat transfer through roof and wall surfaces during peak summer conditions. The coating's aerogel formulation delivers significantly higher thermal resistance per millimeter of thickness compared to conventional warehouse insulation coatings, enabling meaningful temperature reduction within a thin, lightweight application that does not require structural modification or interior space reduction.Post-application monitoring recorded a 5.9°C reduction in warehouse interior temperature under equivalent ambient conditions, effectively reducing heat ingress and minimizing grain quality degradation risks during peak storage periods. The temperature reduction directly translates to lower cooling energy costs and extended safe grain storage cycles, improving operational economics for the depot while reducing food waste associated with temperature-induced grain spoilage. This field application demonstrates AG-C's reliable thermal performance at large-scale industrial grain storage.
