2mm Aerogel Coating Upgrades Insulation for Xi'an Grain Silos

In September 2021, the 2mm AG aerogel thermal insulation coating system was applied to retrofit exterior walls of 105# and 106# shallow round silos at Xi'an Direct Grain Depot, covering a total construction area of 4870㎡. 103# and 104# silos used traditional coatings as control groups. Long-term monitoring shows the aerogel coating delivers far better thermal insulation than traditional products, reducing indoor heat load, improving silo insulation and cutting energy consumption. It also fills wall cracks to boost air tightness, and its strong hydrophobicity enhances moisture resistance, blocking rain and moisture intrusion to protect grain quality effectively.
